Is Holiness Legalism?
Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord (Heb. 12:14)How strange it is that multitudes of people who claim to be filled with the Holy Spirit shun holiness altogether! The Bible declares 'as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, BECAUSE it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy", yet this doesn't seem to phase professed Christians in the least. (1 Pet. 1:15-16) The attitudes, dispositions and FRUITS of those who honor the Lord with their lips on the weekends are rotten to the core during the week! Like the world around them, they are in bondage to the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life! (Gen. 3:6 & 1 Jn. 2:16) Instead of righteousness (i.e 'Doing the Right thing by faith- 1 Jn.3:7) being the foregone conclusion, the majority of todays Churched crowd argue in favor of sin and use the Scriptures (and modern day Christian materials) to explain that what the Bible says, isn't really what it means. The false theologies of the day have tricked those who embrace them into believing they can be counted righteous by God, while they continue to sin daily in thought, word and deed. This teaching is prevalent in most evangelical outreaches and is present in a large amount of Christian denominations today! For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. (1 Thess. 4:7)According to Paul, God has called His Saints into holiness, NOT sinfulness! (yes, saints, not justified sinners who are kind of sanctified and continue in sin that grace may abound!) The Apostle confirms this by stating, 'therefore, he who REJECTS this does NOT reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.' (1 Thess. 4:8) The 'Spirit of Holiness' whom God has given 'to those who OBEY Him,' is that of 'power, love and of a sound mind.' (Rom. 1:4; Acts 5:32; 2 Tim. 1:7) His purpose is to convict the world of sin AND lead God's children into ALL truth! (Jn. 13:16; 16:8) This heavenly anointing, John said, abides in believers and consequently dismisses the need that anyone teach you. (1 Jn. 2:27) If we have the 'MIND of Christ', then WHY would we seek wisdom from men? (Rom. 3:4; 1 Cor. 2:13-16 & Jas. 3:13-18) Bottom line is most people don't want to OBEY God to begin with, so they seek ministries that teach what they want to hear. ("Come just as YOU are...") The Scripture refers to this as "itching ears" and even predicted a "time WILL come" when sound doctrine would NOT be endured as "heaps and heaps" of teachers would arise and turn the people AWAY from the truth unto fables! (2 Tim. 4:3-4) Well, were there today without a doubt. (Just ask your preacher if sinning or not sinning has anything to do with receiving or keeping salvation.) Repentance PROVEN by deeds and faith WORKING by Love is OUT and you're born a sinner, magically transferred righteous and forgiven for ALL your sins in advance is IN!
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
(Rom. 6:22)When was the last time you ever heard anyone from the PRESENT day Church system pronounce they have been (past tense!) "SET FREE" from sin? Not positionallly, but really? Impossible! Why? Because they believe that SIN dwelleth in human nature AND to disagree with this concept is to not understand the true nature of sin! (That being, it's PHYSICAL!) It's so odd that many claim to "Believe" on Jesus but fail to comprehend what He taught -- He plainly said, "Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin." (Jn. 8:34) Paul said that SAME THING to the Romans..." Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" (Rom. 6:16) Now, Jesus told us "NO ONE can serve two masters" (Matt. 6:24), yet today this is EXACTLY what they are teaching the people they can do! (e.g The Carnal Christian! - Rom. 8:5-8) According to the Bible, if one is "under grace" they do NOT "CONTINUE" in sin because they are no longer a slave of sin being "SET FREE" by God Himself! (Rom. 6) How can grace AND sin have dominion over you? -- That's a contradiction in terms! (Rom. 6:14) Like John said, your either a "child of God" (which is CONNECTED to "keeping His commandments" and walking as He walked" -1 Jn. 2:3-6) OR a "child of the Devil!" (1 Jn. 3:10) It's black and white -- no GREY area is mentioned in the Bible. (Matt. 6:22-23; Acts 26:18; 2 Cor. 6:14; 1 Pet. 2:9; 1 Jn. 1:5-7)and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
(Eph. 4:24)"And those who are Christ's HAVE crucified the flesh with its passions and desires" IS the message of Paul the apostle, but NOT your pastor! (Gal. 5:24) Don't be deceived! Like he said, "IF anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature (not in position, but for real!); OLD things have passed away; behold, all things have become New." (2 Cor. 5:17) What else could "OLD THINGS" be other than the "OLD MAN" with his deceitful lusts? (Rom. 6:6) Furthermore, HOW could one "put on" the NEW man and be a "New Creature" while the OLD man survives? (as so many have been taught who submit to present day Bible doctrine!) Was Paul teaching the NEW man merely COVERS the old (meaning you can be counted righteous by God, while you remain wicked to the core?) OR was he explaining the transformation and the renewing of the mind" and DIRECTION that takes place in salvation? Righteousness and holiness IS the fruit of a NEW Tree planted by God! Its the RESULT of a NEW heart that is BORN within the NEW man! "I HAVE BEEN crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me" is the Gospel message! (Gal. 2:20) Walking in the light as He is in the light is NOT an optional feature of the Gospel, and to dismiss this walk is to negate 'fellowship' with the Father and 'the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son which CLEANSES us from ALL sin.' (1 Jn. 1:7)Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Cor. 7:1)As the Scripture reads, "since we are receiving a Kingdom which cannot be shaken, LET US HAVE GRACE, BY WHICH, by which we may SERVE God ACCEPTABLY with reverence and godly fear -- For our God is a consuming fire." (Heb. 12:28-29) Do you SERVE God acceptably or do you call Him "Lord, Lord" and do NOT the things He said? (Matt. 7:21-23 & Lk. 6:46-49) Many of you have been taught that grace cancels the righteous requirements of the Law, yet Paul said, "the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who DO NOT walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." (Rom. 8:4) Hence, there is ONLY 'no MORE condemnation' if your faith 'upholds' and establishes the Law through faith WORKING by love! (Rom. 3:31 & Gal. 5:6) Like John said, "IF we WALK in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from ALL sin." (1 Jn. 1:7) This is an exceedingly great and precious promise of God! (2 Pet. 1:4) If we "KEEP" His word, He will come and make His home in our hearts! (Jn. 14:23) Upon the 'Spirit of Truth' (1 Jn. 4:6) making His abode in the TEMPLE of God (1 Cor. 3:16), the PROMISE is He will guide you into ALL truth! (Jn. 16:13) Assurance will be KNOWN (Rom. 8:16 & 1 Thess. 1:5) and the Love of God will be "SHED ABROAD" by the Holy Spirit whom he has given us! (Rom. 5:5) Be NOT deceived by smooth and empty words, the Bible says, the Holy Spirit is given to those who OBEY God! (Acts 5:32) Which means, you must "OBEY from your heart" (Rom. 6:17) and remain FAITHFUL until death (Rev. 2:10) to reap everlasting Life." (Gal. 6:8)I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Rom. 12:1-2)
